How to overcome zoom gloom and video fatigue
Have you experienced Zoom Gloom or Video Fatigue, from too much time spent interacting with others virtually?
Apparently, it can be quite hard on the brain, as we try to focus on and process lots of information on a screen.
As I host virtual classes and speak to friends, family, colleagues and clients on-line here are a few things I’ve tried to help stay fresh and alert during my calls….
Increase your oxygen levels using breathing exercises, spending time outside or opening a window
Taking calls, if possible, from different places in your home can help reduce any feelings of staleness from sitting in one place.
I use a Lumie Lamp for 30 minutes in the morning which helps lift my mood and energy
Shift your energy and mood by listening to music and moving or stretching
Try a short meditation before a call to calm your mind
When on the call turn off notifications on your phone and computer and minimise distractions.
Rub peppermint essential oil into the back of your neck. Or rub a drop between the palms of your hands and inhale. It will give you an immediate boost.
Have good lighting so you’re not straining your eyes
Take breaks between calls, move away from the screen and look at something in the distance
Set limits on screen time and boundaries on your availability
Drink water and stay hydrated throughout the day
Keep an essential oil diffuser on your desk and use fresh uplifting oils such as Lemon, Wild Orange and Grapefruit to help with mental clarity.
