Staying well during the Winter months

Staying healthy has been a priority for me, for many years, and especially since I became a solo business owner. As much as possible, I put my self care and well-being first, so that I have enough energy and vitality for life and work.

As Jim Rohn said, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in.”

The colder months can be more challenging, so if the winter chill has set in where you live it may be time to give your immunity a boost.

Here are some ways to stay as healthy as possible during the colder months:

~ Citrus fruits, bell peppers, and berries are packed with immune-boosting vitamin C which can help ward off winter bugs.

~ Consume a variety of colourful fruits and vegetables. Each colour represents different nutrients that contribute to a more robust immune system.

~ Stay hydrated with warm drinks like green or herbal teas. Warm liquids can help keep your respiratory system hydrated.

~ Include garlic, ginger and turmeric where possible in your diet. These herbs have anti-inflammatory and immune-strengthening properties.

~ Quality sleep is vital for a resilient immune system and to allow ourselves time to recover and recharge. Apparently we need more sleep during the colder months as our bodies naturally adjust to seasonal changes.

~ Regular physical activity can help improve circulation and promote a healthy immune response.

~ With shorter days, it’s important to to get enough vitamin D. Spend time outdoors when possible or consider a supplement to support your immune function.

~ Regularly washing hands with soap and water is a simple yet effective way to prevent the spread of germs. I also like to use doTERRA’s On Guard Hand Sanitizing Mist when I’m out and about.

~ Chronic stress can weaken the immune system and running a business can be very stressful at times! I like to incorporate stress-reducing activities like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises into weekly routine.

~ A diet high in sugar and processed foods can suppress the immune system. Opt for whole, nutrient-dense foods to support overall health.

I would love to know what you would add to this list.
